ASPCA Forensic Services
The ASPCA Forensic Services Team provides educational programs in the form of workshops, lectures, laboratories and distance education for a variety of professional audiences. This highly specialized team can assist agencies in the planning and evaluation for cases that may involve the evaluation and treatment of animals, as well as providing case response and expert witness testimony. For the collection of physical evidence at animal crime scenes, the ASPCA may deploy the Mobile Animal Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Unit and/or the ASPCA Subaru Outback CSI unit. These specially designed vehicles are outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment that enables the ASPCA forensic services team to examine sick animals while simultaneously collecting and processing on-site evidence. This helps build stronger criminal cases against abusers and lawbreakers. ASPCA forensic investigators can provide assistance in the identification of evidence that may otherwise be overlooked, or can review and interpret physical evidence gathered by other investigators. Additionally, behavioral evidence can be analyized as well as providing sentencing recommendations for offenders.
